Going AWOL. 11/18/2009

So I'm finally back at uni, this year already seems like its off to a better start, I havent wrote much on here recently because I've been here there and everywhere. I've produced a usic video for a local and which is still in edit, I've been to florida where I did a Uni Project and I'm currently trying to sort my car out.

So Ive uploaded a few snaps from florida but unfortunately I couldnt take my main kit out there due to weight limits and theres no way my nikons goin in my suitcase, so I litterally took a compact with me.

I've also got a large collection of random images to sort through. So far I've selected these 3 as my favourites.

So I arrived home tuesday at around 8:30pm and went straight to bed!

The trip overall I thoroughly enjoyed, Its the first time I have endured proper hiking. We departed Coventry at 6:30am heading north for the Lake District, we travelled light with only necessary kit being packed. When your hiking up a mountain the last thing you want is a really heavy backpack on you.

The journey there took us around 4 hours which wasn't bad at all. Once into the Lake District your driving becomes at lot more interactive as your changing gear every 30 seconds as you climb yet another hill, once we found the site we pulled up and went to book our pitch at Castlerigg Farm, we were turned away as they didn't accept single sex parties due to an "incident" on the site. So from there we ventured to Castlerigg Hall who had the same theory, our next chance was a campsite called Dalebottom, which really wasn't a campsite at all it was a field on a farm with 5 caravans, but at least he agreed for us to stay!

So the tent was pitched and we set off straight away to our first hike... Spout Force, which is a 10 mile hike over about 4 hours if your quick, so because we would be stopping to take photos we said compensated for maybe 5 or 6 hours. We set off at 1200 hours with slight northern wind but no rain.

At first you hit the pain barrier and trust me it hits you like a hammer hitting you in the nuts but after the first two hours you start to enjoy yourself you settle into the walk and you start to appreciate the views like this one:

Looking up at the peak your about to climb it feels intimidating and monstrous but the incredible feeling you get when you reached the peak with 50mph winds rushing past your ears and the vast views its amazing. The weather worsened once we were at 1600 feet and to get the cameras out these conditions would have been pretty stupid so unfortunately we have no photos from the highest peak.

This break was not only great for photos but also gave us a great sense of freedom.

The hike overall took 6 and a half hours over 12 miles. The behind the scenes film will be online soon!

Off for a Treck 09/18/2009

So I've finally managed to arrange it, Im off to the Lake district on Monday to shoot hopefully what will be some beautiful landscapes, and some nice macro shots of some wildlife. We've planned a 2 day hike up over Walla Crag  and Skiddaw near Derwent Waters. The best thing about the camp site is its near a pub!

So I will update you all when I return.

So the time finally came when the whole family packs half of the house into the back of a Renault Espace, the rest of the family left early friday morning (5:00am) to be precise. Me and the girlfriend set off on Sunday at 9:00am after many stresses and panic attacks.

Welcome to the Weymouth-Mobile, you cant see but it was packed to the brim.

On the way down we called into Bristol in a little quaint place called Nailsea where I met my girlfriends Aunty and Uncle for the first time, a very nice family very welcoming. So we stayed for a couple of hours whilst we went for a meal at a local pub. I must say the chicken Roast was deeelish! After that we jumped in the car with everyone else and traveled a little down the road to Clevedon Sea front. We were told the sea was a nice shade of brown... well it was brown alright wether it was nice is another thing... Below are a couple of photos from Clevedon:

To walk along the pier it was £1.50 each, the only reasoning behind this i could come up with is that the pier is very popular with fishermen so the charge is predominantly for fishing off the pier.

After spending a couple of pleasant hours with the extended family we set off for Weymouth, this took another two and a half hours, arriving at weymouth at 6:30pm to the lovely sight of a rainbow.

We have been visiting weymouth now for many years, but I can guarantee that theres something new to photograph when im there. This year I captured a variety of images from some nice macro shots to some sporty action shots.

Heres a little critter sunbathing near the beach. Considering I didn't have a macro lens on me a think the shot came out quite nice.

One vehicle your bound to see by the seaside, the VW Camper-van, this nice little example i spotted in the car park and I had to take a quick snapof it.

One of the Coves we visited whilst in Weymouth, was Lulworth, the day was quite cloudy but still a nice day to sit on the beach with your favourite ice cream. This cove has some quirky little decorations hanging around, this one below was hanging on an outbuilding near the beach, as you can see its made of all the dummies found on the beach.

If you look closely at this picture you will notice the bench seat in the boat has "please keep off" written on it.

Whats the point in that!?

Its always a beautiful sun set by our campsite, this night the sky went a lovely orange.

When the sun reappears in the morning Dorset comes back to life, theres plenty of high viewing points but the best is the one at the top of portland Bill.
